CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team came away with a 7-4 win against Adrian College on Monday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improved to 11-4 overall.
The Sagehens were led by
Isaac Kim and
Jack Gold who both went 2-3 on the day with two RBI and a run scored with Gold hitting his third home run of the season.
Cooper Berry,
JC Ng, and
William Kinney also had hits with Kinney earning two RBI in the win as well.
Harry Deliyannis got the ball for the Monday start and went four innings for the no-decision while
William Wallace came in for a relief appearance and
Eric Prough picked up the win out of the pen with 2.1 innings of scoreless baseball.
Gold got the Sagehens going in the bottom of the first with an early run after he drove in Kim to put the Sagehens up 1-0. Adrian came back with two runs in the top of the second off a two-run homer and then the Bulldogs came back with another two-run blast in the top of the fifth to take a 4-1 lead.
Pomona-Pitzer started to chip away as Gold hit a solo shot to cut the lead down to 4-2 and a big bottom of the seventh gave the Sagehens the lead back after a Kinney RBI single and a two-RBI double to right center by Kim put the Sagehens up 5-4 heading into the eighth.
The Sagehens added to their lead in the bottom of the eight as Berry and Kinney provided Prough with some insurance runs, but the bullpen stayed solid late in the game as the Sagehens took their non-conference game against Adrian.
