CLAREMONT, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer softball team earned a 4-3 walk off victory in game one of the doubleheader against Oberlin College on Friday afternoon. The game one victory relied on late game heroics as the Sagehens scored two runs in the seventh inning to secure the victory with Claire Sefkow earning the game winning RBI single to left field. In game one, the Sagehens recorded 10 hits with two triples from Devin Waddell with Kylie Liu and Morgan Groves both ending the game with two hits.

The Sagehens fell behind early as Oberlin put two across home plate in the first inning, using a two-RBI double to left field to take the 2-0 lead. The Sagehens nearly countered in the bottom of the first after Devin Waddell started the inning with a triple to left field. A fielder's choice play resulted in Waddell getting thrown out at the plate with the Sagehens leaving three runners stranded in the inning to keep Oberlin up 2-0.

Both teams went scoreless through the second inning, but the Sagehens scored once in the third and again in the fourth. The Sagehens first run of the day came in the third with Devin Waddell hitting her second triple of the day, this time to right field. Waddell later scored after a sacrifice bunt from Bella Carreon, cutting Oberlin's lead to 3-1 after three innings. In the fourth inning, Kylie Liu hit an RBI single to right field to bring in the equalizer for the Sagehens, making it 2-2 after four innings.

After a scoreless fifth inning, Oberlin started the sixth inning with a solo home run to regain the lead at 3-2. Pomona-Pitzer started the bottom of the sixth inning with a single to center field from Marie Milton, but she was left stranded as the Sagehens couldn't get the bats going to score the tying run.

Oberlin tried to add insurance in the seventh, starting the inning with a single but a double play from Claire Sefkow and Bella Carreon followed by a fly out to Lauren Ziment ended Oberlin's half of the inning, sending the Sagehens back to the plate trailing 3-2.

The Sagehens got things started with a single to third base from Morgan Groves. Groves advanced to second after a high bouncing ground out from Brooke Bullis. The Sagehens recorded a line out to short stop, putting the pressure on with two outs and Groves standing on second. Sophia Roberts came in to pinch hit and earned a walk, putting runners on first and second. An RBI single from Emily Hurtado scored Groves from second, tying the game at 3-3 with the winning run standing on second. Claire Sefkow came up to bat and delivered the walk off RBI single, hitting a hard ground ball into left field with Roberts scoring on the play to give the Sagehens the walk off 4-3 victory in game one of the doubleheader.
