LOS ANGELES, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team fell to Occidental 8-3 in the final game of their three-game series in a single contest on Monday afternoon at Anderson Field.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens still win the season series but fall to 19-6 overall and 7-2 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens were led by
Greg Pierantoni who went 2-4 in the loss with three RBI.
Carson Evans,
Isaac Kim,
Lateef Wakil, and Pater Savas all had hits as well.
Ethan Collins got the start and a no-decision with three innings pitched while
Eamonn Woods,
Harry Deliyannis,
Eric Prough, and
Jack Wiessinger came in relief with Deliyannis earning the loss.
Pomona-Pitzer got going through Pierantoni in the very first inning with an RBI single to left field to put the Sagehens up 1-0. Pierantoni came back again in the top of the fifth driving in two more off a double to left to extend the lead to 3-0 through five innings of play.
Occidental turned the game around in the bottom of the sixth where they plated six runs in the inning off of three hits and one error to take a 6-3 lead over Pomona-Pitzer.
The Tigers added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth, but the Sagehen bats couldn't rally late in the game as Oxy salvaged one game off the Sagehens in the series.
