Sagehens Take Game One Over Caltech, 15-0

 PASADENA, CA. – The No. 7 Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team took game one of their three-game series against Caltech with a 15-0 win on Thursday afternoon at North Field. 
 
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improved to 20-6 overall and 8-2 in SCIAC play. 
 
Sagehens were led by Greg Pierantoni who had a perfect day at the plate going 4-4 with three RBI and three runs scored in the win. JC Ng and Isaac Kim had two hits against the Beavers while William Kinney Nate Jakobs, Ben Cohen, and Jimmy Legg had one.
 
Jake Hilton got the start and picked up his seventh win of the season to improve to 7-1 overall with six innings pitched, only two hits given up and seven strikeouts.
 
Pomona-Pitzer scored early and often against the Beavers on the road with 11 runs in their first three inning at the plate. Pierantoni got the scoring going in the top of the first while Jakobs, Matthew Nishimura, and Legg also registered RBIs in the inning to jump out to a 6-0 lead.
 
The Sagehens added three more in the top of the second after Kim doubled home a run with Pierantoni and Lateef Wakil earning RBIs as well to extend the lead to 9-0.
 
Kim came back again with an RBI in the third and Pierantoni got another RBI in his third-straight inning of hitting to put the Sagehens over the 10-run mark at 11-0.
 
Caltech kept the Sagehens scoreless in the next three inning, but the Sagehens added four more runs in the top of the seventh with RBIs from Ng, Jakobs, and Cohen to put a stamp on game one of the series.
 
Up Next: The Sagehens will next host the doubleheader against Caltech on Friday, March 29th at 11:00 a.m.
