Sagehens Fall To Williams In 7-4 In Non-Conference Contest

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Softball team fell to Williams in one game of a doubleheader 7-4 on Sunday afternoon at Wig Beach Field.  The second game of the doubleheader was postponed due to inclement weather.

Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 9-12 overall.

The Sagehens were led by Bella Carreon who had the only multi-hit game for Pomona-Pitzer going 2-3 with a run scored. Kylie Liu, Brooke Bullis, and Natalie Murguia also registered hits with Bullis, Murguia, and Heather Hennigh picking up RBIs.

Williams jumped ahead early in the game with a big first inning that saw an RBI single and a home run to take a 3-0 lead. The Ephs added one more run in the top of the fifth from a sacrifice fly and then three more in the sixth with two home runs to extend the lead to 7-0.

The Sagehens made it interesting late as they plated four runs in the bottom of the sixth off of an RBI single from Bullis, an RBI double from Murguia, and an RBI from Hennigh followed by an error to get the Sagehens within striking distance at 7-4.

Pomona-Pitzer got the tying run to the plate in the seventh but couldn't bring it home as they fell in what was the only game of the day against Williams.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next host Oberlin College on Friday, March 29th at 1:00 p.m.
