LOS ANGELES, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team took the season series against Occidental as they completed one game of their doubleheader with a 9-3 victory with game three being postponed for another day.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improved to 19-5 overall and 7-1 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens were led by
William Kinney who went 4-5 with a run scored and three RBI in the win.
Isaac Kim went 3-6 in the win while
Greg Pierantoni,
Nate Jakobs,
Jackson Fleming, and
George Nahabedian all had two hits apiece.
Hannoh Seo got the start and picked up the win to improve to 5-0 on the year with five innings pitched, one run given up, and five strikeouts.
Eric Prough came in relief for three innings while
William Wallace ended the game with one.
Pomona-Pitzer got the offense going in the third after they plated five runs with two home runs in the inning. Kim got the first run of the game with his sixth homer of the season and Jakobs followed suit with his seventh of the season to extend the lead to 3-0. The Sagehens weren't done in the inning as Kinney drove in two more with a double to put Pomona-Pitzer on top 5-0 after three innings of play.
Pierantoni extended the lead one more with a sacrifice fly before Occidental got on the board in the bottom of the fifth with a home run of their own to make it 6-1. Oxy then added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to get within three at 6-3, but the Sagehen offense came back strong with two more runs in the seventh from Jakobs and
Jack Gold and then added one more in the eighth from Kinney as the Sagehens secured the season series over Occidental with the win.
