CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Softball team fell in game one of their three-game series to Redlands 11-2 on Friday afternoon at Wig Beach Field.
Season Impact: with the loss, the Sagehens drop to 8-10 overall and 2-2 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens were led by
Devin Waddell who went 3-3 at the plate with a run scored while
Kylie Liu went 1-2 with her second home run of the season and
Bella Carreon also picked up a hit in the loss. Waddell got the start in game one and picked up the loss with 4.1 innings pitched with seven runs and two strikeouts.
Erika Rivera relieved Waddell with 1.1 innings and
Nyla Springer with 0.1 innings.
Pomona-Pitzer led early as they got on the board in the bottom of the first with an RBI via the walk by
Lauren Ziment to take a 1-0 lead.
Redlands came back in the top of the third with two runs to take their first lead of the game with a two-RBI single to go on top 2-1.
Liu tied the game for the Sagehens with a solo shot to center field in the bottom of the third, but Redlands got the offense going with one run in the fourth to reclaim their lead at 3-2.
The Bulldogs went on to extend their lead with a big fifth inning that plated five runs off fo five hits and added three more in the sixth as the Sagehens fell in the opening game of their SCIAC series with the Bulldogs.
