Sagehens Run-Rule Oxy In Game One Of SCIAC Series

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team opened their SCIAC series against Occidental with a 12-1 seven-inning game on Friday afternoon at Alumni Field.
 
Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens improved to 18-5 overall and 6-1 in SCIAC play.
 
The Sagehens had four players with two hits in the win. Isaac Kim went 2-2 with three RBI, George Nahabedian went 2-2 as well with three runs scored and an RBI, William Kinney went 2-3 with three RBI and two runs scored, and Jack Gold went 2-4 with a run scored as well. Jake Hilton got the Friday start and picked up his sixth win of the season to improve to 6-1 on the year with a complete game giving up one unearned run and four hits with six strikeouts.
 
The Sagehen bats took a few innings to get warm but then plated at least one run in each of the final four innings. Greg Pierantoni got the Sagehens on the board in the bottom of the third with an RBI single and then a four-run fourth with RBIs from Matthew Nishimura, Kinney, and Kim extended the lead to 5-0.
 
Pomona-Pitzer came back for four more runs in the bottom of the fifth after an RBI single from Nahabedian, a two-RBI single from Ng, and another RBI single from Kim made it 9-0 through five innings of play.
 
The Sagehens added three runs in the sixth off of a wild pitch and two RBIs from Kinney as the Sagehens run-ruled Occidental to open their three-game SCIAC series.
 
Up Next: The Sagehens will travel to Occidental to finish the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 23rd at 11:00 a.m.
