CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team defeated Division I opponent Dartmouth in a single-game series 9-3 on Monday afternoon at Alumni Field.
 
Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens improved to 17-5 overall.
 
The Sagehens had five multi-hit performances including JC Ng who led the team with a perfect 3-3 game with three runs scored. Isaac Kim, Greg Pierantoni, Nate Jakobs, and Jack Gold all had two hits as well with Pierantoni picking up four RBI in the win and Jakobs with his sixth home run of the season.
 
Harry Deliyannis got the start and the win to improve to 1-1 on the year after five complete innings with two runs, one earned, and two strikeouts before the game was delayed due to lightning. Jack Wiessinger came on for two innings of relief work and Prough ended the game with the final inning.
 
The Sagehens tagged the Dartmouth starter early in the game with back-to-back RBIs from Kim and Pierantoni to take a 2-0 lead. The Big Green got two back in the top of the second with a home run and an RBI single, but the Sagehens responded with runs in four straight innings to build their lead.
 
Pierantoni earned two more RBI in the fourth with a double to right center while Jackson Fleming came through with a big pinch-hit double in the fifth followed by a sacrifice fly by William Kinney to extend the lead to 6-2 heading into the sixth.
 
After a short stoppage for lightning, the Sagehens got back to their scoring ways with one more in the sixth off of a Jakobs' solo shot down the right field line and two in the bottom of the seventh as Pierantoni and Gold picked up RBIs to lift the Sagehens past their Ivy League opponent for the win.
