PORTLAND, OR. – The Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens defeated Lewis & Clark 3-2 in game one of the doubleheader with a
Morgan Groves three-run homer proving to be the difference maker.
Devin Waddell was a standout performer for the Sagehens, going four-for-four at the plate while earning the win at pitcher for the Sagehens, pitching a complete game with one hit and two runs allowed through seven innings. The victory for Waddell comes just a day after pitching 13 innings in a win against the Willamette Bearcats and two days after pitching 10 innings in a victory against the George Fox Bruins. The Sagehens dropped game two 5-1 against the Pioneers, scoring one run in the game off the bat of Brooke Bulls. After their trip to the Pacific Northwest, the Sagehens are now 8-9 on the season and 4-2 on the weekend, earning a sweep over the George Fox Bruins and a win against Willamette and Lewis & Clark. Pomona-Pitzer's trip was certainly an eventful one as the Sagehens played a total of 52 innings between the six games, going to extra innings against George Fox (10 inn.) and Willamette (15 inn.), resulting in hard fought wins in both contests. The Sagehens will return to Claremont for their next contest when they host the Redlands Bulldogs on March 22 at 3:00 p.m.

Morgan Groves delivered the three-run bomb over the center field wall to put the Sagehens on top 3-2. Groves' home run proved to be the difference maker as
Devin Waddell and the defense held the Pioneers hitless the rest of the way to earn a 3-2 victory in game one of the doubleheader.

Brooke Bullis but the Pioneers closed out the contest with a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth inning to seal a 5-1 victory over the Sagehens.
