NICHOLASVILLE, KY. – The No. 3 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team advanced to the ITA Indoor National Championship after their 6-1 win over No. 12 MIT on Friday afternoon at Top Seed Tennis Club.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improved to 5-1 overall and advanced to the Semifinals where they will take on Chicago for a trip to the ITA Indoor National Championship.
Pomona-Pitzer got off to a great start taking two of the three doubles matches against MIT with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.

Nina Ye took a win at the No. 1 spot by the score of 6-1 while
Angie Zhou and teammate
Nyakiriri Kanefu edged out a 6-4 win at No. 2 to give the Sagehens the doubles point heading into singles play.
Pomona-Pitzer went on to win five of the six singles matches en route to clinching the match at 6-1. The Sagehens quickly picked up wins at the No. 4 and No. 6 singles positions as
Marissa Markey won her match at the No. 4 spot 6-2, 6-4 and
Amelia Poor won her singles match 6-3, 6-2.
The Sagehens won two more matches to clinch with both going three sets. Kanefu won her singles match at the No. 2 spot 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 and Zhou dropped her first set 4-6 but came back with a 6-3, 6-0 win as the Sagehens clinched and moved on to the Semifinals of the ITA Indoor Championships.
