CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team split their doubleheader with Whitman to take the season series with a 7-0 win and a 9-3 loss on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Season Impact: With the split, the Sagehens move to 7-3 overall.
Pomona-Pitzer 7, Whitman 0
The Sagehens were led by
William Kinney who went 3-5 with two RBI and a run scored in the win.
JC Ng also had a multi-hit game with a 2-4 performance with three RBI and a runs scored while
Greg Pierantoni,
Jack Gold, and
Andrew An picked up a hit as well.
Hannoh Seo got the start and his second win of the season after a gem outing with seven shutout innings allowing just three hits and four strikeouts.
Eric Prough and
Jake Albro made scoreless relief appearances as well for the Sagehens to close out the game.
The Sagehens took an early lead with runs in the second and third innings. Kinney singled home the first run of the game followed by an RBI sacrifice fly by Ng to take a 2-0 lead. An followed up in the third with an RBI single to put the Sagehens up 3-0 heading into the fourth.
Kinney came back with another RBI in the bottom of the sixth while
Matthew Nishimura earned an RBI with a bases-loaded walk, and Ng capped off the night with a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth as the Sagehens cruised to a win in game one of the doubleheader.

The Sagehens were led by Pierantoni who went 2-4 In the loss while
Isaac Kim made a pinch-hit appearance with a 2-2 night including his first home run of the season.
It took a while for the Sagehen bats to get going in the final game of the three-game series against the Blues while Whitman got out to a quick start with two runs in their first at-bats. The Blues added three more runs in the top of the fourth to take a 5-0 lead and extended their lead to 6-0 through seven innings of play.
Pomona-Pitzer got the offense started in the bottom of the seventh as Kim blasted a three-run homer to cut into the lead at 6-3, but Whitman made up the runs in the top of the ninth with three more to take the final game of the series and avoided the sweep from the Sagehens.
