THOUSAND OAKS, CA. — Pomona-Pitzer men's water polo defeated Cal Lutheran 13-7 Saturday on the road.
Season Impact: The win improves the Sagehens' record to 16-10, including 7-1 in SCIAC play.
Chase Barman led Pomona-Pitzer with a season-high four goals on four shots, also adding an assist.
Zach Whitfield,
Conrad Hugar and
Patrick Hughes posted two goals apiece while
Liam Byrne secured eight saves in goal.
After falling behind 2-1 early, Hugar and
Indigo Lee traded scores to give the Sagehens a 3-2 lead midway through the second period. Barman scored his second of the match, from the five-meter spot, just before halftime as the Sagehens took a 4-3 lead into the break.
Pomona-Pitzer pulled away in the third period, scoring four unanswered as
Nico Perna, Whitfield, Hugar and
Miles Chiang each scored to give the Sagehens an 8-4 lead. Barman notched back-to-back goals in the fourth followed by another Whitfield score to put Pomona-Pitzer up six, 11-5.
Hughes scored both of his goals late as the Sagehens came away with the 13-7 road victory.
