CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's basketball team fell to Lewis & Clark 55-44 on Saturday night in Santa Cruz.

Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens are 2-1 overall.

Joe Cookson scored half of the Sagehens' points with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks. Sam Lind had ten points and Samir O'brien had seven points.

The Sagehens fought in the first half against Lewis & Clark, showcasing moments of life despite trailing for much of the period. Sam Lind got the Sagehens on the board early with two free throws and Joe Cookson had himself a day scoring key baskets to help keep the Sagehens in the game. The Sagehens' defense came alive, with Peyton Mullarkey and Pete Boyle making crucial steals to disrupt the Pios' momentum. The Sagehens trailed 30-23 at the half

In the second half, the Sagehens fought hard to close the gap against the Pios but struggled with turnovers and missed opportunities. Joe Cookson provided a spark for the Sagehens, completing a three-point play at the 17 minute mark to bring them within four points at 32-28. However, the Pios picked up their momentum and capitalized on defensive stops, turning them into points. The Sagehens came up short against the Pios with the final score of 55-44.
