CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer team fell to CMS in the Sixth Street Rivalry 1-0 on Saturday night at Pritzlaff Field.
Season Impact: with the loss, the Sagehens fall to 2-6-2 overall and 0-5-1 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens came up just short of stealing a point on the Stags' home field after falling 1-0 in the Sixth Street Rivalry. The Sagehens were outshot by CMS 18-8 with 14 of the CMS shots on goal and just four for the Sagehens.
Jasper Broad had his hands full tonight with 13 saves for the Sagehens but let in a PK for the only goal of the night.
A pretty event first half despite CMS outshooting the Sagehens 8-4 in the first 45. The Sagehens put one shot on target while Broad kept the Sagehens even at halftime with six saves.
The turning point of the match came in the 51
st minute after a penalty was called on the Sagehens that set CMS up for a penalty kick to take the lead. The Stags converted the PK to take a 1-0 lead as the Sagehens were forced to play the rest of the game from behind.
Pomona-Pitzer made it harder on themselves in the 65
th minute after a red card was handed out for a challenge in the midfield that forced the Sagehens to play with 10 the rest of the way.
The Sagehens tried to rally late in the game but couldn't come up with an equalizer down a man as they fell to CMS 1-0 on the road.
