CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer team defeated La Verne Saturday afternoon, with a final score of 2-0.
Season Impact: With the draw, the Sagehens' record is now 2-6-3 overall and 0-5-2 in SCIAC play.Coming off of a tough loss to rival CMS, the Sagehens came out hungry. The Sagehens dominated the first half and delivered a strong performance, highlighted by Keyon Namdar's goal at the 22-minute mark, giving them a 1-0 lead. The Sagehens maintained possession for the majority of the half, generating several scoring opportunities and corner kicks. Defensively, goalkeeper Jasper Broad made crucial saves against the Leopard's attempts.
The Sagehens entered the second half with a 1-0 lead and quickly extended it to 2-0 when Niclas Ulrich scored in the 53rd minute, assisted by Thomas Moulder. The Leopards responded quickly with a goal in the 61st minute, narrowing the score to 2-1.They continued to capitalize on the Sagehens mistakes late in the game and scored again in the 76th minute, leveling the match at 2-2. The Sagehens ended the match with 13 shots and eight shots on goal while the Leopards had 12 shots with eight shots on goal. The Sagehens held on for a hard-fought 2-2 draw.
