CLAREMONT, CA. – The Sagehens defeated Chapman 1-0 on senior night Saturday afternoon.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 13-1-2 overall and 9-1-1 in SCIAC play.
On Senior Night, the Sagehens beat the Panthers 1-0 in a tense rematch. The last time these teams met, Chapman handed the Sagehens their only loss this season.
The Panthers came out hungry and had a close call with a shot that struck the left post at the 26th minute, but the Sagehens' defense held firm for the rest of the half. The Sagehens responded in the 33rd minute when Hannah Hong sent the ball to the back of the net off of an assist from Spencer Deutz.
Hong's first-half goal proved to be the difference-maker and was the only goal scored in the match. The Sagehen's defense was solid, only allowing the Panthers to have five shots with three shots on goal. The Sagehens had ten shots and four shots on goal.
