Sagehens Net Season High 4 Goals In Win At La Verne

LA VERNE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team scored their most goals of the season with a 4-1 win against SCIAC opponent La Verne on Saturday Afternoon at Ortmeyer Stadium.

Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improved to 9-1-2 overall and 5-1-1 in SCIAC play.

The Sagehens had four different goal scorers in the game as Eliana Prosnitz, Brooke Bailey, Amanda Khu and Hannah Hong all found the back of the net in the win while Maxine Davey recorded an assist as well.

The Sagehens struck first in the ninth minute of the match after the goalkeeper came off her line to clear a cross and the ball eventually found the foot of Prosnitz who lifted it over the keeper to get the Sagehens out to a 1-0 lead.

Pomona-Pitzer doubled its lead after a clear attempt by the La Verne defender bounced back and took a wild hop toward Bailey who chipped the keeper into the back of the net to make it 2-0 heading into halftime.

La Verne made it interesting early in the second half as they got a goal straight out of halftime in the 46th minute. The Leopards played in a nice cross straight to the spot that was hit first time past the keeper to make it one-goal game at 2-1.

The Sagehens went on to add two more goals in the second half after the Leopards responded to cut it down to one goal. Khu got the lead back up to two goals after Davey placed a corner set piece right on her head in the middle of the box that was slotted into the back of the net nicely by Khu to extend the lead to 3-1 in the 84th minute.

The Sagehens went on to add one more insurance goal after a hand ball was called inside the box that gave Hong a chance from the penalty spot.  Hong went on to convert her PK to give her a team-high five goals on the season as the Sagehens left La Verne with the road SCIAC victory.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next travel to the defending national champions as they play Cal Lutheran on Wednesday, October 16th at 7:00 p.m.
