REDLANDS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Basketball team fell to Redlands on the road 89-68 on Wednesday night at Currier Gymnasium.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 3-17 overall and 0-11 in SCIAC play.
Pomona-Pitzer had four players in double digits as
Abigail Homan and
Jadyn Lee shared a team-high 14 points while
Charlize Andaya had 13 and
Emily Lee added 11 in the loss.
The Sagehens shot around 35% from both the field and from three at 35.6% from the floor and 37.5% from beyond the arc while Redlands had an impressive night shooting with 60.3% from the field and 89 total points in the game. The Bulldogs did the majority of their damage in the paint with 46 points and outrebounded the Sagehens 43-23.
The Sagehens got into a hole early on after the Bulldogs opened the game with an 8-2 run to take an early lead. Pomona-Pitzer cut the lead down to one possession at 10-7 and stayed within four points of the lead as the Bulldogs took a 20-16 lead into the second quarter.
Redlands went up 10 early in the second quarter with a 26-16 lead. The Bulldogs kept the lead around 10 for the majority of the second quarter until the Sagehens netted the final basket of the first half and went into halftime trailing 40-32.
A big scoring third for Redlands put the Sagehens in a hole with the Bulldogs coming away with 30 points in the third quarter. Despite the Sagehens having their best scoring quarter of the third as well with 20, Pomona-Pitzer faced a 68-47 deficit heading into the fourth.
The Sagehens went on to add 16 points to their total in the fourth quarter but were unable to overcome the early deficit as they fell to Redlands for the second time this season.
