REDLANDS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer team drew against SCIAC opponent Redlands 1-1 on Wednesday night at Farquhar Field.
Season Impact: with the draw, the Sagehens move to 2-4-3 overall and 1-2-2 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens were led by
Chris Chow who scored the only goal of the night for Pomona-Pitzer while
Keyon Namdar came away with the assist.
Pomona-Pitzer went on the road and came away with a point against a solid Redlands squad that only had one loss on the season prior to their meeting with the Sagehens. Redlands outshot Pomona-Pitzer 21-9 but only 7 of those 21 shots were on target for the Bulldogs while the Sagehens managed to put 5 of their 9 on target.
A hard-fought first half ended scoreless as both teams had little opportunities to score to get an early first-half lead. The Bulldogs scored the first goal of the match in the 51
st minute to take a 1-0 lead over the Sagehens just out of halftime.
After trailing 1-0 on the road, the Sagehens had to regroup in the second half and search for an equalizer. Pomona-Pitzer broke through late in the game as Chow found the back of the net off of an assist from Namdar to even the score at 1-1 in the 79
th minute of the match.
With little time left to play, neither team could put together a chance for a game-winning goal as the Sagehens left Redlands with a big conference point.
