Sagehens Late Goal Forces Draw At Redlands

REDLANDS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer team drew against SCIAC opponent Redlands 1-1 on Wednesday night at Farquhar Field.

Season Impact: with the draw, the Sagehens move to 2-4-3 overall and 1-2-2 in SCIAC play.

The Sagehens were led by Chris Chow who scored the only goal of the night for Pomona-Pitzer while Keyon Namdar came away with the assist.

Pomona-Pitzer went on the road and came away with a point against a solid Redlands squad that only had one loss on the season prior to their meeting with the Sagehens. Redlands outshot Pomona-Pitzer 21-9 but only 7 of those 21 shots were on target for the Bulldogs while the Sagehens managed to put 5 of their 9 on target.

A hard-fought first half ended scoreless as both teams had little opportunities to score to get an early first-half lead.  The Bulldogs scored the first goal of the match in the 51st minute to take a 1-0 lead over the Sagehens just out of halftime.

After trailing 1-0 on the road, the Sagehens had to regroup in the second half and search for an equalizer. Pomona-Pitzer broke through late in the game as Chow found the back of the net off of an assist from Namdar to even the score at 1-1 in the 79th minute of the match.

With little time left to play, neither team could put together a chance for a game-winning goal as the Sagehens left Redlands with a big conference point.

Up Next: The Sagehens will return home to face CMS on Saturday, September 30th at 4:00 p.m.
