Prosnitz Pushes Pomona-Pitzer Past Panthers

CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 9 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team kept their perfect season alive with a 1-0 win over SCIAC opponent Chapman on Saturday morning at the Pomona-Pitzer Soccer Field.

Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 8-0 on the year and 3-0 in SCIAC play.

The Sagehens were led by Eliana Prosnitz who scored the game-winning for the Sagehens off of an assist from Amanda Khu.  Patricia DePalma got the start, the win, and the shutout in goal as she still has not allowed a goal all season long.

Chapman put up a good fight for 90 minutes against a strong Pomona-Pitzer team at home and was the aggressive team early on.  The Panthers had good possession in the first half and got the ball down into Sagehen territory, but the stellar backline of Pomona-Pitzer still was able to limit the Panthers to just five shots in the game and one on target.

Prosnitz had a big chance to score the game's first goal in the first half, but a left-footed shot went just wide of the cage as the two teams went into halftime tied at 0-0.

The Sagehens still searched for the game's opening goal in the early stages of the second half and got a big chance as Isla Burch drew a foul in a solid set-piece opportunity.  Taylor Marshall played a great ball into the box that was headed on by Khu and Prosnitz slotted a right-footed shot across the goal to give the Sagehens a 1-0 lead in the 61st minute.

The Panthers looked for an equalizer in the final 30 minutes of the contest and had a good chance in the final minute with a free-kick, but the ball flew left of the goal as the Sagehens shut out the Panthers for the home win.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next host Redlands on Wednesday, September 27th at 4:00 p.m.
