PASADENA, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer team fell to SCIAC opponent Caltech 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Beaver Field.
Season Impact: with the loss, the Sagehens fall to 2-3-1 overall and 1-1 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens were shut out on offense for the third time this season despite putting up 16 total shots throughout the 90 minutes. Pomona-Pitzer had six shots on goal and five corner kicks but couldn't find the back of the net against the Beavers.
The big moment of the match came in the 43
rd minute as the Beavers got their game-winning goal just before halftime. Caltech got the ball through the midfield and slipped in a through ball past the Sagehen backline that was chipped over the goalkeeper to give the Beavers the lead.
The Sagehens tried to crack the Caltech defense in the second half, but with the lead, the Beavers parked the bus on defense, making it difficult for them to come away with any scoring opportunities.
The Beavers were able to successfully stall out the rest of the game and handed the Sagehens their first SCIAC loss of the season.
