SAN ANTONIO, TX. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer team fell 3-0 to open their 2023 season against St. Thomas no Friday afternoon at Paul McGinlay Field.
 
The Sagehens were shutout in their opening game but managed to put up 13 shots with six of them on frame while St. Thomas only had one additional shot on goal with seven in the win.  Goalkeeper Ethan Bae came away with three saves while allowing three goals as well in all 90 minutes in goal.
 
St. Thomas was able to play from in front pretty early on in the contest after the Sagehens conceded a penalty in the fourth minute that led to the opening goal. The Sagehens had a few opportunities in the first half, but St. Thomas ultimately went into halftime with their 1-0 lead by way of the penalty.
 
The Sagehens stayed one goal down for the first 15 minutes of the second half as they searched for an equalizer, but St. Thomas doubled their lead with a goal in the 62^nd minute as Aleman converted his second goal of the game to make it 2-0. 
 
St. Thomas went ahead to add its third of the day in the 72^nd minute that put to rest any comeback opportunity for the Sagehens as they fell in their season opener 3-0.
