CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team fell to CMS 5-2 in the SCIAC Semifinals on Friday night at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 10-14 overall.
The Sagehens had a tough fight through doubles but could only steal one match from the Stags to head into singles down 2-1. The #1 doubles team of Hayden Snyder and Eshaan Lumba fell to Robinson and Settles 8-2, but the Sagehens got a win at #2 doubles with Mukund Madabhushi and Matthew Feng defeating Freer and Schilling 8-6. The Sagehens had a chance to send the last doubles into a tiebreaker but Ethan Lee and Neil Chulani came up just short against Mareedu and Pham after they fell 8-6 to put the Stags up 2-1 heading into singles.
The Sagehens got a quick win at the #6 singles match as Matthew Feng took a 6-1, 6-1 win but the Stags answered with a win at the #5 singles as Krishnan fell in his match 6-0, 6-2. CMS took their second singles match at #2 with Madabhushi losing his match 6-2, 6-3 to move within one spot of clinching the win. The Stags got their clinch at the #3 spot after Kush Patel fell in straight sets by the scores of 7-6, 6-4.
