CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team fell to CMS 5-4 in their final regular season contest of the season on Saturday night at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 10-13 overall and 4-3 in SCIAC play. The Sagehens will finish the regular season in fourth place and be the No. 4 seed in the upcoming SCIAC Postseason Tournament.
The Sagehens fell behind after doubles play with CMS taking two of the first three matches to start the night. Hayden Snyder and Eshaan Lumba fell at #1 doubles 8-5 while Neil Chulani and Ethan Lee dropped their match at #3 doubles 8-4. The Sagehens got their sole doubles win at #2 as Matthew Feng and Mukund Madabhushi came away with an 8-2 win as CMS took a 2-1 lead into singles.
Pomona-Pitzer put up a great fight against the Stags, but fell just short as they won three of the six singles matches. Snyder fell in his singles match at #1, 6-1, 6-1 while Madabhushi also lost his singles at the #2 position 6-0, 7-5.
The Sagehens got wins at #3 and #4 singles as Kush Patel earned a win in three sets by the scores 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 and Ethan Lee in straight sets 6-0, 7-5. Pomona-Pitzer also won at #6 singles with Rohun Krishnan winning in three sets 6-7, 6-4, 6-2, but the Sagehens fell at #5 singles with Feng dropping his match 6-2, 2-6, 3-6 as the Stags came away with the win in the Sixth Street Rivalry match.
