CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team fell to Tufts 8-1 on Thursday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
Season Impact: with the loss, the Sagehens fall to 7-9 overall.
Pomona-Pitzer got behind early after they dropped two of the three doubles matches to the Jumbos. Hayden Snyder and Mukund Madabhushi fell at #1 doubles 8-5 while Matthew Feng and Eshaan Lumba dropped their doubles match at #2 8-6. The only win of doubles for the Sagehens came at #3 as Ethan Lee and Neil Chulani earned a point with an 8-2 win.
Tufts would go on to win all of the singles matches to pick up the win. Snyder fell to Sharda at #1 singles 7-5, 6-1 with Madabhushi losing his match at #2 singles, 6-2, 7-6. Kush Patel also went into a tiebreaker for his first set but ultimately lost 7-5 and retired in the second set for the loss.
Matthew Feng dropped his singles match at the #5 spot 6-2, 6-2 while the other two matches went into three sets, but Tufts ended up winning both.
Ethan Lee won his first set at #4 singles 7-5 but fell 6-3 and 12-10 for the loss while Chulani lost 6-4 in the first set and came back with a 6-2 win in set two but lost the superset 13-11 as the Jumbos swept the singles matches against Pomona-Pitzer.
