ST. PETER, MN. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team fell to Emory 7-1 in the consolation bracket of the ITA Indoor Championships on Saturday at the Swanson Tennis Center.
Season Impact: with the loss, the Sagehens fall to 3-3 overall.
Emory took all three doubles matches against the Sagehens to take a big lead into singles. The doubles matches started off with Emory's Andrew Esses and Nolan Shah defeating Pomona-Pitzer's Mukund Madabhushi and Hayden Snyder with a score of 8-6. Emory went on to win the next two as Ryan Glanville and Charlie James defeated Eshaan Lumba and Matthew Feng of Pomona-Pitzer with a score of 8-3. Emory's Samuel Dean and Dean Kamenev defeated Owen Kelley and Kush Patel of Pomona-Pitzer with a score of 8-6 in the third doubles match.
Moving on to the singles matches, Pomona-Pitzer's Hayden Snyder came away with the only win of the day for the Sagehens against Emory's Andrew Esses in the first singles match by the scores of 6-4 and 7-6. Emory's Nolan Shah defeated Mukund Madabhushi in a close match with scores of 7-6 and 6-1.
In the #4 singles match, Charlie James of Emory defeated Ethan Lee 6-2, 6-4 while Brandon Cohen of Emory won at #5 singles against Luke Feng 6-1, 6-2. The #6 singles ended with Emilio Van of Emory defeating Roshan Morey 6-3, 6-2. The third singles match was left unfinished as Kush Patel and Emory's Dean Kamenev were tied a set each at 7-6, 5-7.
