ST. PETER, MN. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team had a Sixth Street Rivalry at the ITA Indoor Championships where they fell to CMS 5-3 on Friday afternoon at the Swanson Tennis Center.
Season Impact: with the loss, the Sagehens fall to 3-2 overall and move into the consolation bracket of the championships.
CMS took an early lead by winning two of the three matches. At the #1 doubles spot, Mukund Madabhushi and Hayden Snyder of Pomona-Pitzer faced Christian Settles and Advik Mareedu of CMS. Settles and Mareedu took control early on and won the match 8-4. At the #2 doubles spot, Eshaan Lumba and Matthew Feng of Pomona-Pitzer put up a tough fight against Ian Freer and Matthew Robinson of CMS, but ultimately lost in a close 8-7(4) match. Pomona-Pitzer managed to win one of the three doubles matches as Owen Kelley and Kush Patel defeated Nathan Arimilli and Christopher Li of CMS 8-6 at the #3 doubles spot.
After taking a 2-1 deficit into the singles matches, Pomona-Pitzer's Hayden Snyder won a thrilling match at the #1 singles spot against Advik Mareedu of CMS. Snyder won the first set 7-6 and then held on to win the second set 6-3. At the #2 singles spot, Christopher Li of CMS defeated Mukund Madabhushi of Pomona-Pitzer in a closely contested match that ended 7-5, 6-4. Ethan Lee of Pomona-Pitzer won his match at the #4 singles spot in straight sets, defeating Michael Hao of CMS 6-2, 6-4. Ian Freer of CMS won his match at the #5 singles spot against Luke Feng of Pomona-Pitzer with a score of 6-4, 6-4. Finally, at the #6 singles spot, Warren Pham of CMS won a close match against Eshaan Lumba of Pomona-Pitzer, with a score of 7-6, 6-2. The only singles match that did not finish was the #3 spot as Kuch Patel was up one set over Matthew Robinson of CMS score of 7-6, 2-5.
