Sagehens Fall To No. 4 Oswego State At D3hoops.com Classic

LAS VEGAS, NV. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Basketball team dropped their second-straight contest of the D3hoops.com Classic with a 79-50 loss to No. 4 Oswego State on Saturday afternoon.
 
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 9-2 on the year.
 
The Sagehens were led by Joe Cookson who had 14 points in the loss. Right behind Cookson was Jasper Hedin who tallied 13 points as the only two Sagehens in double figures.
 
Pomona-Pitzer struggled from the floor with 33.3% of their shots falling and just 3-17 from three for 17.6%. Oswego State hovered around 45% from both the field and the floor hitting on 14-31 of their three's for 45.2%. Oswego State also forced the Sagehens to turn the ball over 15 times and scored 21 points off of turnovers.
 
Pomona-Pitzer got out to a good start on offense as they jumped out to a 12-5 lead within the first five minutes of the game. Oswego came back to bring it within one point at 16-15 and then sparked a 10-4 run to take a 25-18 lead over the Sagehens with 3:22 to play in the first half. Despite starting the half out well, the Sagehen offense cooled off late in the half as Oswego State took a 35-22 lead into halftime.
 
The Sagehens kept the deficit to around 10 points for the early stages of the second half, but Oswego State took off on an 18-8 run to bring their lead over 20 at 57-36 with 10:54 left to play. Pomona-Pitzer needed the three-ball to get going to make a comeback in the second half but only converted one of their 10 shots from three in the second half as the Sagehens dropped their first two games of the year at the D3hoops.com Classic.
 
Up Next: The Sagehens will return home to take on Chapman on Wednesday, January 3rd at 7:00 p.m.
