Sagehens Fall To Beavers In SCIAC Road Contest

PASADENA, CA. - The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Basketball team took a road loss against Caltech on Saturday night by a margin of 48-64 in their second SCIAC contest of the year.

Season Impact: The Sagehens fall to 2-6 overall with a SCIAC record of 0-2.

Abigail Homan led the squad with 19 points on 6-14 from the field and 6-6 from the free throw line. Emily Lee also had 11 points and 7 rebounds while Jadyn Lee added 7 points of her own.

Overall, the Sagehens shot 34.0% from the field compared to the Beavers' 39.7% from the field. The Beavers were also more efficient from beyond the arc, at 6-17 compared to the Sagehens' 4-18 mark. Caltech controlled the glass as well, out-rebounding Pomona-Pitzer by a 42-27 margin.

The Sagehens jumped out to an 8-2 lead after an Emily Lee triple at the 5:14 mark of the 1st quarter. However, that would be their biggest lead of the game, as Caltech tied the game with a three-pointer of their own to tie the game at the end of the 1st frame and would pull ahead for good in the second quarter, using an 8-2 run at the end of the half to take a 32-22 lead into the break.

Pomona-Pitzer was unable to break through in the 2nd half, getting only as close as 8 points after Michelle Ogasawara assisted on an Abigail Homan 3 with 5:36 remaining in the 4th quarter. Caltech cushioned their lead at the charity stripe, adding 6-10 on their free throw opportunities in the 2nd half.

Up next: The Sagehens look to bounce back with their first home SCIAC contest on December 6th at 7:00 PM inside Voelkel Gymnasium against the University of La Verne Leopards.
