LAS VEGAS, NV. The No. 21 Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens squared off against the No. 22 Trinity University Tigers in the D3hoops.com Classic with the Tigers coming away with an 83-62 win on Friday afternoon.

Season Impact: with the loss, the Sagehens suffered their first loss of the season and fall to 9-1 overall.

The Sagehens had four players in double figures. Leading the way was
Jasper Hedin with 14 points and six rebounds.
Peyton Mullarkey netted 12 points,
Joe Cookson with 11 and
Pete Boyle with 10.

Pomona-Pitzer struggled on offense hitting on just 38.3% of their shots from the floor and 26.9% from three while Trinity shot over 50% from the floor at 50.8% and hit on 54.8% of their three's going 17-31.

The Sagehens stayed with the Tigers in the first half with both teams exchanging leads early in the game. Pomona-Pitzer held a three-point lead at 31-28 with 4:14 left in the first half, but the Tigers took the lead late with their good three-point shooting to take a 38-34 lead over the Sagehens into halftime.

Pomona-Pitzer kept it close early in the second half, but the Tigers started to get hot on offense and put together some runs off their great shooting to take a 56-46 lead with 12:51 left in the game. Â The Sagehens tried to chip away at the lead, but the Tigers kept their distance from the Sagehens and extended their lead to 20 points at 80-60 with just under three minutes to play.

Ultimately, it was an impressive night for the Tigers from beyond the arc that kept the Sagehens away from mounting a comeback as they handed Pomona-Pitzer their first loss of the season in the D3hoops.com Classic.
