Homan And Lee Score 16 In Loss To Wisconsin-Superior

CHICAGO, IL. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Basketball team fell to Wisconsin-Superior 70-57 on Sunday afternoon at the Midway Classic at the Gerald Ratner Athletic Center.
 
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens open the season 0-2 overall on their opening road trip.
 
The Sagehens were led by Jadyn Lee and Abigail Homan who each shared a team-high with 16 points in the loss. Emily Lee was also in double-digits with 13 points.
 
The Sagehens had 15 turnovers in the game but forced 17 from the Yellow Jackets with both teams coming away with 20+ points off of turnovers.  Wisconsin-Superior slightly outgained the Sagehens with 20 points in the paint to Pomona-Pitzer's 16 while the Sagehens had 14 second-chance points to the Yellow Jackets' eight.
 
The Yellow Jackets got out to a good start on offense that forced the Sagehens to play from behind early on. Wis.-Superior started with a 13-5 lead in the first four minutes of the game, but the Sagehens closed the gap to three points at 17-14 after a three by Jadyn Lee with 1:51 left in the first.  The Yellow Jackets ended the first with four straight points and took a 21-14 lead into the second quarter.
 
Pomona-Pitzer came out hot in the second quarter and immediately took their first lead of the game and stretched their advantage to six points after a Homan and-one with 2:29 left in the first half. The Yellow Jackets closed the gap just before halftime, but the Sagehens still led 29-28 heading into halftime.
 
The Sagehens extended their lead midway through the third quarter with a 10-point lead at 40-30 with a Katie Drias three, but Wis.-Superior immediately cut down the deficit with a 15-5 run to tie the game at 45-45 with two minutes left in the third quarter.
 
With the game tied at 47-47 at the start of the fourth quarter, the Sagehens fell behind as the offense struggled with their lowest-scoring quarter of the night, while the Yellow Jackets had their highest-scoring quarter of the night with 23 points.  The Sagehens fell behind by 11 at 60-49 with four minutes to play and couldn't find a run to come back as they fell to 0-2 at the Midway Classic.
 
Up Next: The Sagehens will next have their home opener as they host Concordia University Chicago on Friday, November 17th at 7:00 p.m.
