Wong Keeps Sagehens Unbeaten With 1-0 Win At Caltech

PASADENA, CA. – The No. 18 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team came away with a 1-0 win on the road against Caltech on Saturday afternoon at South field.

Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens improve to 13-0-2 overall and 9-0-2 in SCIAC play to keep their top spot in the SCIAC heading into their final game of the season.

The Sagehens were led by Lexi Wong who netted her first collegiate goal of the season in a big moment as she was the only goal scorer in the game today.  Brooke Bailey assisted on the Wong goal while Patricia DePalma and Amirah Haque split time in goal for the win.

Although the Sagehens only scored one goal against Caltech, Pomona-Pitzer outshot the Beavers 25-1 throughout the game.  The Sagehens registered 10 shots on goal with five corners and were called offsides five times.

Pomona-Pitzer dominated possession against Caltech throughout the entire game, but the Beavers did a good job keeping the Sagehens out of the goal. The Beavers almost survived the first half, but Bailey found Wong outside the box who then played in a curling shot that found the back of the net to give the Sagehens the lead with her first goal of her Sagehen career.

After taking a 1-0 lead into halftime, the Sagehens searched for an insurance goal to make sure there was no chance for a draw on the road.  Despite not being able to get more than one goal on the board, the Sagehen defense stayed solid and did not allow a goal for the 11th time this season to hold on for the win.
