No. 19 Sagehens Put 5 Past Redlands For Road Win

REDLANDS, CA. – The No. 19 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team bounced back from their draw against Cal Lutheran with a 5-0 win over SCIAC opponent Redlands on Saturday morning at Farquhar Field.

Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens remain at the top of the SCIAC with an 11-0-2 overall record and a 7-0-2 conference mark.

Vivian Rojas Collins led the Sagehens with a goal and an assist in the win while Ella Endo, Anjuli Turner, Kendrick Dahlin and Maxine Davey also found the back of the net with Hannah Hong and Anjali Nuggehalli picking up assists.  Patricia DePalma earned another shutout in goal after she went the full 90 with three saves.

There was a big discrepancy in the shot totals as the Sagehens took 22 shots with 14 on goal while Redlands had 7 attempts with 3 of them finding the mark, all saved by DePalma. The Sagehens also dominated corner opportunities with 8 while holding Redland without a chance from a corner piece.

The Sagehens didn't waste any time getting a lead after scoring the first goal within the first ten minutes of the contest. Pomona-Pitzer won a corner while Hong played in a deep corner to the head of Rojas Collins who beat the keeper to the far post for her first collegiate goal of her career.

Pomona-Pitzer scored their second goal of the half from another header as this time Rojas Collins played in a long lob from the midfield that found the head of Endo for the header past the keeper to double the lead at 2-0 late in the first half.

The Sagehens weren't done yet with their scoring in the first half after they won the ball back in the midfield and countered down the right side. Turner was able to get the ball on the byline and beat her defender to score from a tight angle to put the Sagehens up 3-0 heading into halftime.

After taking a big lead in the first half, the Sagehens added a few more insurance goals in the second half.  Nuggehalli played in a cross to the middle of the box that found Dahlin who slotted it past the keeper to make it 4-0 and minutes later, Davey scored her first career goal from a set piece after she curled a freekick over the wall and into the near side of the goal to cap off a big offensive night for the Sagehens against the Bulldogs on the road.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next host SCIAC opponent Whittier on Wednesday, October 18th at 4:00 p.m.
