CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Water Polo team earned their second-straight win with a 22-4 win over SCIAC opponent Caltech on Monday night at Braun Pool.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 5-12 overall and 3-1 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens had a trio of players earn hat-tricks as
Dillon Joyce,
John Shafer, and
Theo Bass all had three goals in the win.
Jacob Shimon,
Hudson Schneider,
Patrick Hughes, and
Indigo Lee had multi-goal games with two each while
Andrew Plaschke,
Miles Chiang,
Chase Barman,
Julian Montoya, and
Jacob Whiting had one.
A big first half for the Sagehens set the stage for a successful night as they outscored Caltech 13-0 in the first two quarters. The Sagehens started with an 8-0 start in the first quarter as Hughes started the scoring, followed by goals from Chiang, Barman, Plaschke, Lee, and Bass to take the early lead.
Pomona-Pitzer kept the goals flowing in the second quarter with Shafer, getting all three of his goals in the quarter while Montoya, Shimon also found the back of the net to put the Sagehens up 13-0 at the break.
Whiting and Bass netted the first three goals of the second half, extending the Sagehens' goal streak to 16 straight before Caltech scored its first of the night with just under two minutes left in the third.
Joyce, Schneider, and Shimon continued to score goals for the Sagehens in the second half as Pomona-Pitzer coasted to a big win over the Beavers.
