No. 7 Sagehens Draw With CMS In Sixth Street Rivalry

CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 7 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team had their string of nine-straight wins to start the season snapped with a 0-0 draw against CMS in the Sixth Street Rivalry on Saturday night at Pritzloff Field.

Season Impact: With the draw, the Sagehens move to 9-0-1 overall and 5-0-1 in SCIAC play.

The Sagehens did not have a goal scorer in the draw but a great game by Patricia DePalma in goal preserved a draw for Pomona-Pitzer after she stopped 10 shots.

CMS pressed Pomona-Pitzer hard in the first half trying to find a go-ahead goal at home. The Athenas had the better of the chances in the first half, but DePalma wasn't making it easy on the Athena offense as the two teams went into halftime tied at 0-0.

The Sagehens were the much more aggressive team on offense in the second half as they lived inside the CMS defensive third for the final 45 minutes.  Pomona-Pitzer had a few big chances to score a game-winner in the second half, but the Athenas were content with a draw at home against the No. 7 team in the nation as they packed the box on defense and forced the Sagehens into a scoreless draw.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next host SCIAC opponent La Verne on Saturday, October 7th at 11:30 a.m.
