CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 10 Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team finished off their regular season with a 9-0 sweep over SCIAC opponent Cal Lutheran on Saturday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens improve to 14-9 overall and 6-1 in SCIAC play. The Sagehens have also secured the No. 2 spot in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament.
The Sagehens started by taking all three doubles matches against the Kingsmen. Jansen Comadena and Owen Kelley started things off with a quick 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles while the No. 2 team of Charlie Stark and Kush Patel and the No. 3 team of Nils Skattum and Daniel Pang both earned wins of 8-5.
Pomona-Pitzer went on to earn all six wins at singles without any of them going into a third set.
Ethan Lee started out the wins for the Sagehens at No. 4 singles with a 6-0, 6-3 win followed by wins of 6-1, 6-1 by Comadena at No. 3 and Jack Weiler at No. 6.
Matthew Feng followed up with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles while Patel doubled his wins on the day with a 6-2, 6-4 victory. Stark ended the regular season for the Sagehens with a tiebreaker win in set one 7-5 and a 6-2 win to follow as the Sagehens sweep the Kingsmen to end the season.
