CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 10 Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team defeated SCIAC opponent Caltech 7-2 on Friday afternoon.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 13-8 overall and 5-0 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens took two of the three doubles matches against the Beavers to start the contest. Jansen Comadena and Owen Kelley earned the Sagehens a win at No.1 doubles 8-3 and then took a 2-1 lead as Charlie Stark and Kush Patel won at No. 2, 8-6.
Pomona-Pitzer had a singles battle with Caltech with five of the six singles going to three sets. The only straight sets win came at No. 4 as Mukund Madabhushi won 6-1, 6-3. Hayden Snyder got the Sagehens a win at No. 1 singles by the score of 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 and Patel doubled his wins with a 7-8, 6-4, 6-0 victory.
The Sagehens ended with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles as well, both in three sets. Comadena won at No. 5 by the scores of 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 and Ethan Lee finished off the win with a 6-3, 0-6, 6-3 win at No. 6.
