CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 19 Pomona-Pitzer Tennis team fell to No. 12 Tufts 5-4 on Monday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens drop to 7-5 overall.
Pomona-Pitzer started off the day with two of the three doubles wins to jump out to a 2-1 advantage. The Sagehens started doubles with a win at No. 2 doubles with Charlie Stark and Hayden Snyder defeating their opponents 8-2. Pomona-Pitzer ended up with another win at No. 1 doubles with Jansen Comadena and Owen Kelley edging out an 8-7 win.
Tufts made up its ground in the singles portion of the match as the Sagehens fell in four of the six singles matches. Pomona-Pitzer earned a quick win at No. 3 singles with Kush Patel earning a 6-1, 6-3 win and the only other win of the singles came in a tiebreaker battle with Comadena at No. 4. Comadena earned a win in the first set 6-2 but ended up falling in a Close set two, 7-6 that set up a tiebreaker scenario that Comadena went on to win by the score of 12-10.
