Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team fell to non-conference opponent George Fox 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Season Impact: with the loss, the Sagehens end their opening weekend at 3-1 overall.
The Sagehens were led by JC Ng and Harry Deliyannis who each got two hits in the loss while Kevin Lo, Caleb Millikan, Isaac Kim, David Bedrosian, and Jimmy Legg all registered a hit as well.
Eamon Woods got the start and went five innings while giving up four runs while Jake Albro and Eric Prough came in relief.
George fox got out to a first-inning lead after a pair of walks led to a throwing error off of a steal attempt that plated the first run of the game. George Fox added two runs in the second on a two-run shot to right field and a ground out in the third that scored another to give the Bruins a 3-0 lead in the third.
The Sagehens got on the board in the bottom of the sixth after a Millikan RBI double to right center and then Legg singled through the left side to bring home another to cut the lead down to 4-2.
The Bruins got an insurance run in the top of the eighth off of a fielder's choice and even though the Sagehens brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth, they were unable to mount a comeback as they suffered their first loss of the season.
