CLAREMONT, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's tennis team defeated Hope International 9-0 to start the 2022 season. The Sagehens also traveled to Division II Azusa Pacific for another match on opening day but fell 7-0. The Sagehens will be back in action on Feb. 18 when they host Irvine Valley College at 10:00 a.m. and Westmont College at 2:00 p.m.

Pomona-Pitzer – 9, Hope International - 0
Charlie Stark and Mukund Madabhushi won their doubles match 8-1. Owen Kelley and Jansen Comadena also took their doubles match 8-1 while Nils Skattum and Eshaan Lumba won their doubles match 8-4.
Jansen Comadena flew through set one, winning 6-2 but had a tough second set, this time winning 7-5. Roshan Morey earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory in his match. Kush Patel took set one 6-4 and won the second set 6-2. Rohun Krishnan fell 6-3 in the first set of his match but answered back with a 6-0 second set and 6-4 third set. Eshaan Lumba took set one 6-2 but fell 6-1 in set two. Lumba quickly turned things around and won his third set 6-2. Jack Weiler took the first set 6-2 but fell 7-6 in set two. Weiler was able to win the third set 6-5 (8).
Azusa Pacific – 7, Pomona-Pitzer – 0
Charlie Stark and Mukund Madabhushi fell 6-3 in their doubles match while Nils Skattum and Hayden Synder dropped a 7-6 (5) tight match. Jansen Comadena and Owen Kelley picked up the Sagehens only doubles win against APU, earning a 6-4 victory.
Hayden Snyder won his first singles set 6-2 but dropped the next two 6-4 and 11-9. Mukund Madabhushi fell 6-2 and 7-6 (5) in his singles match. Charlie Stark lost his singles match 6-1, 6-2 while Jansen Comadena fell 6-2, 6-2. Kush Patel had a tight first set but fell 7-6 before dropping set two 6-1. Matthew Feng dropped his singles match 6-3, 6-1.
