CLAREMONT, CA. -- The Pomona-Pitzer Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Marcel Diggs for the position of Assistant Athletic Director of Events and Operations.
Diggs joined the Pomona-Pitzer Department of Athletics as the Assistant Athletic Director of Events and Operations in the winter of 2023.
The Assistant Athletic Director of Events and Operations oversees the scheduling of all athletic and recreation facilities, staffing and operations of events, home game management, and championship hosting. This position provides leadership in planning and designing events, facility maintenance, and upgrades, and coordinating with external organizations regarding the use of the facilities.
Diggs joins Pomona-Pitzer after a two-year program at Tufts University as a Future Leader Graduate Fellow. As part of this two-year program, Diggs earned a master's degree in Diversity and Inclusion Leadership within the Tufts Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. He also worked within various units of the Athletics Department - facilities, events, and game operations; fundraising, development, and alumni engagement; business operations and compliance; marketing, communications, and social media; and student affairs, student recreation, and club sports - as well as interacting with athletics partners around campus.
Diggs earned a degree in Economics at St. Olaf, where he was also a member of the Ole's football and track & field teams. He was elected as a football captain for his sophomore season and held that leadership role for three years. He also served as President of St. Olaf Athletics' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee from May 2019 to May 2020. A student worker within St. Olaf Athletics, he was also selected to be a part of the committees to hire new track and & field and women's hockey coaches at the university.
At the NCAA National office, where he worked in the Administrative Services office, Diggs assisted in the areas of operations, business performance management, human resources, information services, internal auditing and finance. In addition to his internship at the NCAA national office, he also participated in the NCAA's Division III Student Immersion Program in January 2019, the NCAA Next Steps Program in June 2019 and the NCAA Career in Sports Forum also in June 2019. During the summer of 2019 he was an administrative intern for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
