Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. – Brendan Mora's 24 points and 17 rebounds led the Pomona-Pitzer Men's Basketball team to a 90-68 win over non-conference opponent Bethesda University on Thursday night at Roberts Pavilion.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 6-3 overall.
Mora led the charge with his game-high 24 points and recorded his seventh double-double of the season while Joe Cookson added 16 and Peyton Mullarkey and Pete Boyle each added 14.
The Sagehens led every major statistical category and hit on a 46.6% clip from the field and 38.2% from three. Pomona-Pitzer outrebounded the Flames 63-25, had 21 assists, 27 second chance points and 30 points in the paint.
The Sagehens got out to an early lead in a game that they never trailed. Cookson capped off an early run for the Sagehens as he converted an and-one to put the Sagehens up 12-2 within the first five minutes of the first half. The Sagehens kept their foot on the gas in the first half and extended their lead to 27-10 after a Cookson layup with 8:42 left before halftime.
The Flames started to cut into the Sagehens' lead late in the first half, but Pomona-Pitzer held on and stayed ahead 42-28 at the break.
The Sagehens came out of halftime and quickly regained their big lead as a Boyle three put Pomona-Pitzer up 17 points at 47-30 within the first three minutes of the second half. The Sagehens went up by 21 after a Mullarkey three with 7:45 left to play and the Sagehens went on to take their largest lead of the game at 79-50 after Johnny King converted a three-point play with 5:04 left in the game.
