CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team came away with a 9-0 win over non-conference opponent Christopher Newport on Monday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex. With the win, the Sagehens improve to 5-3 overall.
The Sagehens started out the match with three wins during the doubles competition. Charlie Stark and Avery Bicks started out with a win at No. 1 doubles, 8-4 while Jed Kronenberg and Hayden Snyder followed up with an 8-4 win at No. 2. The Sagehens ended doubles with a win at the No. 3 spot as Mukund Madabushi and Nils Skattum finished with an 8-2 victory.
After taking a 3-0 lead, the Sagehens continued their dominance into singles play. Pomona-Pitzer swept Christopher Newport on the afternoon and started with a win at No. 1 singles with Kronenberg getting the win, 6-3, 6-2.
Madabushi earned another singles win at No. 2 singles after dropping the first set 1-6, came back with a 6-0 win in set two and finished with a 6-2 win in set three. Snyder doubled up his wins with a singles victory at No. 3 6-2, 6-3 and Quinn Hirsohn edged out a win 7-5, 4-6, 10-8.
The Sagehens ended the day with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles as Weiler made quick work of their opponent with a 6-1, 6-0 win and Skattum finished off his counterpart 6-3, 6-3 to complete the sweep for the Sagehens.
Pomona-Pitzer will next host Skidmore on Friday, March 13th at 1:00 p.m.
