Men's Tennis: Sagehens Advance To SCIAC Tournament Championship With 5-2 Win Over Redlands

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team clinched a berth into the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship after their 5-2 win over Redlands in the SCIAC Semifinals on Friday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.

Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens improve to 11-13 overall.

The Sagehens actually fell behind early on in the doubles matches as they took just one of the three matches to start play. The Sagehens earned a win at No. 3 doubles as Jed Kronenberg and Nills SKattum took an 8-6 while No. 1 doubles fell 3-8 and No. 2 lost 6-8.

After starting singles with a 1-2 hole, the Sagehens took all of the singles matches that finished. Kronenberg first earned a win at No. 1 by the scores of 6-3, 6-2 and Octave Bellet earned a win at No. 3 6-3, 6-4. Pomona-Pitzer went on to take the No. 4 singles match with Sam Gearou earning a 6-3, 6-2 win and the Sagehens clinched immediately after with a win at No. 6 singles as Jansen Comadena won his match 6-1, 6-3 to finish off the Bulldogs and earn a trip to the SCIAC Championship.

Up Next: The Sagehens will face CMS in the Tournament Championship on Saturday, May 4th at 1:00 p.m.
