Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Basketball team defeated non-conference opponent Bethesda University 96-51 on Saturday night at Voelkel Gymnasium.
Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens improve to 5-2 overall.
The Sagehens were led by senior Micah Elan who scored a game-high 22 points in the win. Junior Alex Preston notched 19 points while senior Jack Boyle and first-year Brendan Mora each had 11.
The Sagehens dominated the Flames in every category leading field goal percentage 59%-29%, three-point percentage 28%-9%, rebounds 61-23, and 48 points in the paint to Bethesda's 16.
Pomona-Pitzer wasted no time getting head early as they began the game scoring the first 13 points to take a 13-0 lead. The Flames finally got on the board just about four minutes into the game and cut the lead down to single digits at 20-11 but the Sagehens took off after that point and outscored Bethesda 45-21 heading into halftime.
It didn't get much better for the Flames in the second half as the Sagehens notched 51 points as a team in the final 20 minutes. The Sagehens shot 61% from the floor in the second half and continued to expand their lead. Pomona-Pitzer took its largest lead of the night with just under a minute remaining at 48 points, their largest lead over any team this season so far.
