PEPPER PIKE, OH — The Sagehens beat No. 8 Case Western Reserve 7-2, and the No. 9 Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team finished the ITA Division III National Men's Team Indoor Championship in fifth place.
Doubles
Case Western took two of the doubles matches to start the competition, but Spencer Simonides and Jake Yasgoor turned it around with a 8-3 win in the No. 3 doubles match.
Singles
The Sagehens were dominant in the singles portion of the match, winning at every slot. Jake Yasgoor got Pomona-Pitzer started with a win in the No. 1 spot 6-1, 7-5 against James Fojtasek.
Graham Maassen kept the Sagehens rolling beating Siddharth Rajupet in the No. 2 match winning the first set 6-2 and the second set in a tiebreaker 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
Antony Bello won his match against Josh Dughi 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) at No. 3. Josh Kim used three sets to win his match, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4
Marko Mandic beat Sam Concannon 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-0), and Josh Gearou won in the No. 6 spot 6-4, 6-4.
Next Match: The Sagehens return to SCIAC competition next Saturday, March 4 when they travel to Redlands to face the Bulldogs at 10 a.m.
