PEPPER PIKE, OH — Marko Mandic won in both singles and doubles, and the No. 9 Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team scored a close 5-4 win over No. 11 Kenyon College in the ITA Division III National Men's Team Indoor Championship Consolation Semifinals.
The Sagehens are seeded sixth and the Lords are seeded seventh.
Doubles
The Sagehens took home two wins in the doubles portion of the match. Graham Maassen and Mandic beat Kenyon's Nicholas Paolucci and Jacob Zalenski 8-4 in the No. 1 match.
In the No. 3 match, Spencer Simonides and Jake Yasgoor bested Michael Liu and Mike Roberts 8-6.
Antony Bello and Avery Bicks fell in the No. 2 match 8-5.
Singles
In the singles competition, Jake Yasgoor led the Sagehens off with a 6-1, 7-5 win in the No. 1 slot against Paolucci.
Pomona-Pitzer scored two more wins in the No. 5 and No. 6 matches. Mandic came through with a 7-5, 6-3 win in the No. 5 slot against Roberts. Josh Gearou beat Henry Barrett 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 6 match.
Next Match: The Sagehens advance to the fifth place match today at 5 p.m. eastern time against host No. 8 Case Western Reserve.
