CLAREMONT, CA – Ellen Wang set a new records in the three-meter dive, the Sagehens swept the relays, and the No. 24 Women's Swimming and Diving team won big against the La Verne Leopards Saturday afternoon at Haldeman Pool.

Season Impact: The Sagehens keep rolling through SCIAC dual meets, remaining undefeated with one meet left before the SCIAC Championships.
From the Coach: They've been training really hard the last few weeks," said Head Coach Jean-Paul Gowdy. "The results are not where we want them to be in terms of final times but they are in terms of how we're racing so thats very good to see."
"They're ready and excited for next weekend and really excited for the SCIAC Championships in a couple weeks. It was a nice meet for the seniors and a good way to send them out at their last meet at Haldeman."
Diving
Wang had a huge day off the board for the Sagehens. She won the one-meter dive with a score of 241.65, but she made the biggest news in the three-meter. She set a Haldeman Pool and program record for six dives with a score of 293.16, and after she completed eleven dives qualified for the NCAA Championships.
Relays
Pomona-Pitzer opened the day taking the top two spots in the 200 yard medley relay. Angela Ling, Erin Bigus, Sarah Jin, and Cayla Nishizaki combined to win with a time of 1:50.09. Sabrina Kwan, Clare Flynn, Alex Seidel, and Mallorie Hsu took second at 1:54.12
The Sagehens closed with a win in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Kwan, Nishizaki, Seidel, and Maddie Kauahi won the event finishing with a time of 1:39.67. Hsu, Ling, Jin and Mariah Bowman took third (1:43.31).
Individual Races
The Sagehens took the top three spots in the 200 yard freestyle with Nishizaki touching first (1:58.05), Kauahi finishing second (2:01.93), and Bowman placing third (2:02.12).
They scored another sweep in the following event, the 100 yard backstroke. Ling won with a time of 58.23, with Jin (59.08), and Victoria Agostini (1:01.75) following behind. Jin won the 200 yard backstroke (2:11.60) with Lavinya Yap taking third (2:17.27).
Maddie Kauahi scored her first individual win of the day in the 50 yard freestyle (24.22) just edging out teammate Nishizaki who finished second (24.84). She continued her winning-streak in the 100 yard freestyle where she led the Sagehens to a sweep in the race. Kauahi won at 54.74, Hsu took second (55.47), and Bowman took third (56.30).
Kwan scored an individual win in the 200 yard butterfly, winning by nearly seven seconds with a time of 2:11.73. Molly Weinstock took third in the event with a time of 2:18.73. Kwan also won the 100 butterfly (57.70), with Ling taking third (1:01.90).
Bigus took the top spot in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:31.31) and teammate Dorris Hannah finished third (2:26.99). Bigus finished second in the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:10.21.
In some of the longer events of the day, freshman Katherine Lauerman was dominant, winning both the 1000 yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle. She won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:00.26, and won the the 500 freestyle at 5:19.21. Kay Sterner took third in the 500 freestyle at 5:29.56.
Pomona-Pitzer went 1-2-3 again in the 400 yard IM with Eva Gontrum (4:41.08), Maddie Larkin (4:47.85), and Kyra Sanborn (4:5.67) taking the top spots.
Senior Day
The Sagehens honored seniors Miranda Green, Maddie Larkin, Cayla Nishizaki, Ali Queen, Kyra Sanborn, and Kay Sterner in a ceremony prior to the start of the meet.
Next Meet: The Sagehens walk across the road to face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in this year's edition of the Sixth Street Rivalry, next Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Both teams are currently undefeated in SCIAC dual meets.
