CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's tennis team defeated Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Caltech 8-1 on Friday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex in a match that was previously suspended due to weather.
The Sagehens took a 2-1 lead as they won two of the three doubles matches against the Beavers.
Jonathan Kim and Jake Yasgoor started out with a win in the No. 1 doubles by the score of 8-3 and the brothers team of Josh Gearou and Sam Gearou won in the No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
The Sagehens went on to win all six of the singles matches against Caltech as Graham Maassen started out with a win in the No. 1 singles match by the score of 6-4, 6-3.
Yasgoor followed that up with a win in the No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-1 and Jon Kim won in the No. 3 singles by the score of 6-1, 6-1.
Josh Kim won in his singles match in the No. 4 spot as he defeated his opponent 6-4, 6-2 and Josh Gearou also won his singles match in the No. 5 spot by the score of 6-3, 6-0.
Pomona-Pitzer ended the day as Spencer Simonides took care of his opponent in the No. 6 singles match with a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
The Sagehens will end their regular season as they travel to Redlands on Saturday, April 30th at 10:00 a.m.
